RESULTS AND REPORTS- Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th March 2018

The North Riding Football League programme was again decimated, but this time it was water rather than snow that caused mass postponements, on Saturday.

Just two competitive games were possible, both in the top tier. Yarm and Eaglescliffe enjoyed a thumping 6-2 win over lowly Nunthorpe Athletic. Sean Mackin slammed in a hat-trick, while Dan Jones bagged a brace and Anth Chisman completed the scoring for the hosts. Liam Southall and Athletic’s own runaway top scorer Tom Atkinson netted for Nunthorpe.

The other clash was a great deal closer as Guisborough United held second-placed Redcar Town 2-2 at Laurence Jackson School. Town, who were looking to cut Boro Rangers’ advantage at the top to four points, raced into a two-goal half-time lead when Chris Jackson fired home twice before the break. Lewis Reeve saw his penalty saved by Mike Algie, nine minutes into the second half, for Guisborough, but they refused to let their heads drop. Dean Wilson pulled one back, 18 minutes from time, before Lewis Minter’s late goal ensured a share of the spoils, for United.

Premier Division Redcar Newmarket decided to arrange a friendly with Wearside League neighbours, Redcar Athletic. Andy Tullock scored and midfielder Ryann Hodgson also found the target in a terrific 2-1 victory for Newmarket.

Sunday saw attention turn to cup action as three quarter finals in the RT Raine Under 19 Cup took place. Richmond Town and Billingham Synthonia shared ten goals. Town secured a 7-3 success as Joe Shields and Ronan Donoghue both blasted braces, with Edward Lewington, Simeon Cromarty and Joe Ramsey also scoring. Synners responded through Callum Daniels’ own two-goal salvo and Luke Duffy’s strike.

Guisborough Town’s superb season continued with a 7-1 thumping of Coulby Newham. Jack Lambert hit a hat-trick, with Donny Hodgson, Cameron Park, James Dunn and Luke Smithyman also making the scoresheet. Coulby’s consolation came from Josh Millington.

Kader also made the last four after Rob Clark hit two and Lucas Brown notched in a 3-0 home win over Redcar Newmarket.
