The battle of the top two in the North Riding Football League saw Thornaby Dubliners defeat Yarm & Eaglescliffe by a single goal. Arran Brookbanks’ sole strike was enough to keep Dubs 100% at the summit.
Grangetown have also made a perfect start to the new season. Boys Club’s Michael Wilson now has three goals in two games after his brace. Jon Stott was also on target, while Ben Bonner notched for hosts BEADS.
Stockton West End kept up their strong start with a 4-2 victory at new boys Bedale. Ross Hodgson had put the promoted hosts ahead, late in the first half, but West End levelled through Ben Turner. The same player then put the visitors in front, before Colin Anderson made it 2-2, just after the hour. Sean O’ Brien and debutant Mark Hobson made it 4-2 Stockton, late on.
There was also late drama at Redcar Town in the night’s 7.30pm kick-off. The home side led through Ryan Bennions early in the second half, only for Lewis Kaid’s 90th-minute leveller to rescue a point for St Marys 1947.
Fishburn Park are another 100% side after a 2-1 derby success over Staithes Athletic. The Whitby outfit netted through Sam Richardson and Nathan Storr, while Liam Johnson scored for Staithes.
Kader bounced back from Saturday’s defeat at Stokesley to register their first-ever win. The Middlesbrough side raced into a 4-0 lead against newly-promoted New Marske. Carl Williams blasted two as Kader went two up inside 20 minutes. It was three, on the half hour, as Craig Hayward struck. Matthew Nelson’s penalty made it four, early in the second half. Quickfire changes saw Shaun Laverick hit back and Aaron Dale make it 4-2. With 12 minutes left, Lewis Mitchell’s second goal in two games reduced the arrears further, but Kader clung on.
Champions Boro Rangers are underway after a crushing 5-1 win over Guisborough Town Reserves. Robbie Keenan, Matty McQueeney, Jamie Bellamy, Richard Cook and James Dillon struck for Rangers.
