It’s as you were in the top tier of the North Riding League Premier Division as both Boro Rangers and leaders Stockton West End took maximum points on Wednesday night.

Rangers eased past Redcar Newmarket 3-0 as Stu Rose netted twice and fellow in-form striker Dan Lockwood was also on target.

West End lead by four points but their rivals hold three games in hand, despite Stockton’s 2-1 derby win at Yarm & Eaglescliffe. Gary Mitchell and Michael McLaughlin struck for Stockton, cancelling out Sean Mackin’s goal.

Grangetown’s great form continues as they came back with three points from the long trip to Bedale after a real thriller. Jack Stapley had put Dale ahead on 17 minutes only for Boys Club to level within five minutes, through Matty Green. Kieran Stares put them ahead for the first time, just four minutes later, with Green’s second make it 3-1 by half time. Ten minutes into the second half, Dan Caisley’s superb free-kick made it 3-2 and the same player’s penalty levelled it up, 15 minutes from time. But Grangetown weren’t finished and with three minutes remaining, ex-Whitby midfielder Josh Keogh fired their winner.

Elsewhere, Thornaby Dubliners beat St Marys 1947, 4-2. Marcus Laing, Aaron Scott and Joe Carter’s brace saw Dubs home. Paul Vaughan and Ryan Mackey replied for Saints.

Tuesday’s two games saw Stokesley Sports Club grab what could be a crucial point against Fishburn Park, but it could easily have been all three. Chris Lax’s men raced into a two-goal lead through Shayne Ketley’s penalty and Liam Beadnall’s header. However, their Whitby visitors pulled one back before the break thanks to Andrew Menzies’ strike. Jimmy Organ-Simpson pounced on a defensive error to level and Joe Crowther then put Park in front, ten minutes from time. However, Steve Cattle notched late on to secure a share for Sports Club.

Park’s neighbours Staithes Athletic were well beaten, 4-1 at home by Guisborough Town Reserves. Luke Smithyman hit two for the Priorymen with Josh Trimble and Dom Harrison also netting.

There was disappointment, on Wednesday, for Thirsk Falcons who lost out on penalties in the North Riding Challenge Cup final to Scarborough side Itis Itis Rovers. Falcons dominated the early stages, Liam Cook putting them ahead on the half hour before the crossbar was hit. However, Jack Ramos levelled and Sam Pickford put Rovers ahead. Pickford was unlucky then right at the end when his keeper cleared against him and into the net for a last-gasp own goal. This sent the match to a shoot out with Itis Itis triumphing 7-6, in sudden death, after 15 penalties.

In one Under 19 Division contest, Redcar Athletic defeated neighbours Newmarket 4-2. Jake Lance, Sam Raine, Tom Eglinton and Joe McGlade were on target for Athletic. Newmarket replied through Levi Grange and Chris Payne.
