Sadly Redcar Town tumbled out of the North Riding Senior cup, on Tuesday night, at the hands of Evo-Stik League Premier Division Scarborough Athletic. Town held their opponents, ranked four levels higher, for over half an hour before a penalty broke the deadlock. They were overawed in the second period but can be proud of their efforts.
Mo Mowlam Park then played host to NRFL Premier Division action as neighbours Redcar Newmarket returned to winning ways against Whitby side Fishburn Park. Lee Blackburn’s goal plus a brace from Michael Dowse, including a last minute winner, edged a rollercoaster clash, 3-2. Park’s goals came from Andrew Menzies and Sam Richardson.
Elsewhere, Stokesley Sports Club defeated St Marys 1947 by the same score. Ryan Leslie hit two for Chris Lax’s men with Louis Benoit firing the other. The Saints scored through Paul Vaughan and Ben Cotts.
